BLACKSBURG, Va., Feb. 14, 2024 ~ VPT, Inc., a subsidiary of HEICO Corporation, has recently announced the launch of their latest addition to the VSC Series of space COTS DC-DC converters. The VSC100-2800S is specifically designed for the "NewSpace" market and is intended for use in commercial rad tolerant satellite applications and NASA Class D missions.

The VSC Series is a complement to VPT's hermetic hybrid SV/SVL Series of radiation-hardened products that are available on DLA SMDs. This new addition to the series offers a balance of cost and guaranteed performance, making it ideal for low Earth orbit (LEO) applications.

The VSC100-2800S features output voltages of +3.3V/66W, +5V/100W, +12V/100W, and +15V/100W, as well as a wide input voltage range. It also boasts sensitive semiconductors that are rated to withstand up to 40 krad (Si) per MIL-STD-883 Method 1019 and guaranteed to 30 krad (Si) TID. Additionally, the converters are characterized to LET > 42 MeV/mg/cm2 for catastrophic events and LET > 30 MeV/mg/cm2 for single event transients (SET) and single event functional interrupts (SEFI). The proprietary packaging of the VSC100-2800S allows for dual-side heatsinking with very low outgassing.

Drawing on our extensive expertise in developing radiation-hardened DC-DC converters, this series ensures optimal radiation performance for LEO applications while maintaining competitive pricing."

The company is also proud to offer the VSC family of commercial rad tolerant products ranging from 5W to 100W+ for use in the "NewSpace" market. The VSC100-2800S is currently available for purchase, while the VSC100-2800D is expected to be released and available for sale by the end of 2024. However, all sales are subject to applicable U.S. export license restrictions and regulations. Interested parties can contact a local VPT distributor for more information.
