Robert Rummer Taps Aubrey McCormick, Founder of Twyne Design and Sustainability Expert, to Lead the Way

PORTLAND, Ore. - Virginir -- It's a new era for the Mid-Century modern movement. Robert Rummer is instrumental in changing the landscape in the Pacific Northwest, building approximately 800 homes in the Portland metro area in the 1960's, focused on a design that embraces nature from the outside in. Today, Bob is the last living notable influencer in MCM.

Originally sparked by his wife Phyllis's influence and his respect for Joseph Eichler's Bay Area designs, he never expected the fervor that would ensue surrounding his builds decades later. "I can't believe how popular the homes are today," said 96-year old Rummer. "When we were building them, we wanted to create neighborhoods focused on community, affordability, and the fun people who bought them - hosting dinner parties with friends as neighbors, and enjoying the layouts designed for entertaining. I'm so glad that still holds true."

Rummer and his business partner, Terry Gilson, have handed over the torch to Aubrey McCormick as the new CEO of Rummer Development. As an entrepreneur and former professional golfer, established sustainability expert, and residential design-builder, Aubrey has started building the dynamic team to bring this project to fruition. Together, they'll be building future-forward Mid Century Modern homes, inspired by the legacy of Bob Rummer. The goal is to scale these carefully curated homes in and beyond the Pacific Northwest.

"I've been working closely with Bob and Terry to embed Bob's vision and legacy into this project. This is a purpose driven effort, and will shape how we build homes and neighborhoods  into the future. Bob Rummer built homes to center around nature and community, and our team is dedicated to preserving his vision, while elevating these new homes with modernized technology, efficiency, and important sustainable features for generational livability," said McCormick.

The team is finalizing the new floor plans and designs, which is set to be released in June 2024. Rummer, 96, is still actively imagining floor plans and is working closely with Aubrey on the final plan of action for the new design.

The Team Framework - McCormick has assembled  a powerhouse team to create and elevate the brand toward the future, while respecting the past. She appointed Gabrielle Enfield, a former celebrated journalist, award-winning global brand marketing executive and current top Oregon Real Estate Broker, to lead sales and marketing for the organization, as Chief Marketing Officer.

"Rummer Homes hold a sense of reverence for architecture and design enthusiasts in Portland, of which there are many," Enfield said. "Rummer Development will soon introduce new floor plans, while keeping intact what makes a Rummer so special - its indomitable spirit and design."

Joining the team is Sally Olsson, appointed as Head of Community Partnerships. A Native Oregonian, she is a veteran Oregon Broker, Oregon real estate investor, and residential remodeler. I'm excited to develop authentic relationships with people who share our passion and enthusiasm for the Rummer Revival. We're building more than homes; we're cultivating a vibrant community."

Rummer Development has partnered with builder Aforma who will work closely with the team to bring Bob's vision to a reality on the ground. "Aforma is thrilled to be part of the team reviving a legend with precision and passion, blending the timeless design of iconic Rummer homes with high-performance building technologies," said Will Pritikin, CEO Aforma.

"Our projects are more than just homes; they speak to sustainable luxury, crafting tomorrow's classics today for the next generation of midcentury enthusiasts. Our commitment to innovative, eco-friendly living is embedded in every home, ensuring they are beautifully modern and optimally efficient."

Jason Karam has been named Rummer Development's Head of Development where he will utilize his experience as an architect and designer to craft neighborhood developments, along with harnessing sustainability principles from the beginning of the project. "Reviving an icon is no easy task, but doing things that are meaningful are rarely easy.  Staying true to the original character while making the homes feel updated for the next generation is what this revival is all about."

An advisory team of historical advisors will be gathered prior to build-out to deepen the relationship between the Rummer Revival and the mid-century modern movement. McCormick and team are excited to embark on this journey, where they will make the new Rummer Revival homes redefine what a modern day neighborhood feels like, both inside and outside of the home.
