Torch passes to new clockmaker for Martinsville Speedway's unique racing award. Hermle North America of Amherst, Virginia, excited to continue production of winning grandfather clock trophy.
AMHERST, Va. - Virginir -- Hermle North America (aka: Hermle NA) is pleased to be the new manufacturer of a very special reward for race winners; a long-standing NASCAR tradition started decades ago at the Martinsville Speedway. Since 1964 victors at Martinsville have not earned just any trophy; a stately grandfather clock sits waiting in the winner's circle. With the closure of the trophy clock's original maker, Ridgeway (a subsidiary of Howard Miller), Hermle North America is proud to keep this unique racing tradition alive for generations to come.
Hermle North America's Shannon Padgett, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, summarized the unique collaboration: "This year marks a very special partnership for us as we begin the manufacturing of the grandfather clock trophy for the Martinsville Speedway. Like the speedway, Hermle is rooted in family, tradition, and carrying forward a legacy. As a Virginia manufacturer we are pleased to keep these clocks American made, and to uphold the heirloom craftsmanship of these clocks as they deserve. We are excited to be a part of this special tradition"

The clock cabinets will be produced in Hermle North America's Amherst, Virginia production plant only two hours away from the Martinsville Speedway - keeping the clocks in Virginia from start to finish. Precision made clock movements will be provided by Hermle's German headquarters - similar to Ridgeway's deal with Hermle at various times over the years.
