ARLINGTON, Va. - Virginir -- Axta Space Awarded NOAA Next Generation Ground Demonstration Contract
Arlington, Virginia – [May 29, 2024] – Axta Space Corporation, a leading provider of innovative space technology solutions, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a demonstration contract under the 2023 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ground solicitation BAA-NOAA-GPD-2023.
The $749,000 award will facilitate a comprehensive demonstration of system and network performance for NOAA's Space-Ground data distribution, specifically tailored to support NOAA's planned constellation of over 100 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites and their existing Geostationary Earth Orbits (GEO), L1, and L2 platforms.
In response to the increasing demand for reliable and efficient data distribution capabilities within the space industry, Axta's solution aims to revolutionize Space-Ground communications by optimizing network efficiency and reducing congestion at high-visibility ground sites. The innovative approach employed by Axta will strategically relocate the congestion to fewer, more conveniently located sites while leveraging the capabilities of an optical inter-satellite link-supported mesh network.
