HERNDON, Va. - Virginir -- ASA and The Earnest Archives and Library have partnered together to host a new webinar series on German Fraktur and Broadsides.
The first of two webinars, An Overview of Pennsylvania German Fraktur (https://learn.appraisers.org/products/pp158-an-...), will air June 15, 2023 from 1:00pm -2:00pm ET and will explore the definition of Fraktur and how it pertains to its history in North America while addressing common misconceptions. This course will discuss the difference between the term used in German-speaking Europe versus North America.
The final webinar, An Overview of Pennsylvania German Broadsides (https://learn.appraisers.org/products/pp159-an-...), will air July 20, 2023 from 2:00pm – 3:00pm ET and will identify the German Broadside. This course will discuss the print houses of the culture as compared to the smaller, usually rural, presses. The subject matter important to the culture which influenced the printing will be discussed and compared to developments in America.

Russell and his late wife, Corinne founded Earnest Archives and Library in 1971 and have recorded more than 40,000 fraktur and bible records since. Patricia, Russell and Corinne's daughter, operates Russell D. Earnest Associates/Earnest Archives and Library, a collection of Pennsylvania German documents.
